Seasonal Nomad Jack

Summer is over along with the real estate selling season and so I’ve made my seasonal exit from Muskoka. Many people have been asking where I will be this year. The past two winter we were based in Fiji and explored various areas of the South Pacific and Indonesia. This year I’m staying closer to home making it easier for friends and family to visit us in sunny St. Thomas, U.S Virgin Islands. From here we plan on visiting many neighbouring islands including St. John, St. Croix, the BVI’s and possibly Puerto Rico. We’ve rented a beautiful ocean front villa, perched on a cliff with wide island dotted views.

As most of you know I lead a somewhat unique lifestyle.  While I absolutely love my life in Muskoka I find I’m happiest splitting my time between cottage country in the temperate months and hightailing it out of there before the snow flies. Combine this love of travel with my knack for real estate and I’m able to always find somewhere spectacular to spend the winter. Villa Vista Bleu in Caret Bay, St. Thomas checks all the boxes – privacy, views, exposure, a stunning abode – and is the perfect fit for us. Some of you also know that my wife and I have been working on a project for the past few winters. We finally published our book in June – aptly titled – Another Cocktail Please – the Essential Guide to Long Term Vacationing. Now that my busy real estate season is over I can spend some time marketing and promoting our how to live an exotic lifestyle book. It has been getting great reviews and sales are already strong, especially in the UK and Australia.

In Another Cocktail Please I share my experience and tips for planning and enjoying the perfect vacation, no matter your destination or length of time to holiday. If you haven’t picked up a copy yet, you can do so here. It makes a great stocking stuffer or gift as it is packed full of useful tidbits. We all know people who work too hard and are tired of the rat race and “keeping up with the Joneses”. Another Cocktail Please (I’m told) is thought-provoking, inspirational and provides the tools to “live outside the box”. Although we do share some personal experiences this is more of a travel, vacation resource book than about us.

I've also created a website titled Evolving Bucket List that I can revisit from time to time to remind myself of all of the wonderful adventures I've had in my life and hopefully to provide inspiration to others.

I also want to let you know that although I’m not physically in Muskoka at the moment, I am always just a phone call or email away. I’m on a roam from home cell phone plan 705-646-4693 and have high speed internet. What is nice about being in the Caribbean is that there is only a one hour time difference. The reason being, the island does not partake in Daylight Savings Time. I always have my ear to the ground and your best real estate interests in mind.

I’d love to hear about your summer in Muskoka and where you are going on vacation this winter!
