Boathouses of Muskoka - What's Trending
One aspect of Lakes Muskoka, Rosseau and Joseph, that adds to our cottage country allure, are our boathouses. One of my favorite past times is cruising the lakes to see what is being newly built, current renovations or alterations taking place and to admire the history of the structures adorning the shorelines. Every boathouse is unique. Each possessing its own character, telling the story of its inhabitants - the vessels in which we enjoy countless hours of leisure time and then put to bed under the protection of their homes.
Over the years I’ve compiled many photos of these unique boathouses into my online albums- single story with or without roof top decks and two story, or story and half boathouses as they are called in Seguin Township. Some with living quarters above or on the main level, those housing precious antiques and the tall and narrow to accommodate masts of sailboats. Many of my clients as well as builders and architects view these albums for inspiration for design, colour, size and so on.
Have you noticed anything different, on the first and third, newer boathouse pictures?Since we’ve taken to the likes of lake sports such as wake-boarding and wake-surfing, many boat manufacturers offer tow-boats with towers, swivel board racks and speakers. These towers are necessary for certain activities and also act as sturdier biminis than the older models. However, they may be too tall for the older built boathouse. Notice the height difference between the two doors on each.
